Esther Peterson Policy Forum

Michal Grinstein-Weiss, PhD, MA, MSW, is the Shanti K. Khinduka Distinguished Professor and Associate Dean for Policy Initiatives at the Brown School. She serves as director of the university-wide Social Policy Institute at Washington University and as a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution.

Dr. Grinstein-Weiss is an influential voice in the design of innovative social policies. She leads large-scale initiatives promoting financial inclusion and health equity through unique cross-sector partnerships. Dr. Grinstein-Weiss is pioneering the field of tax-time savings and spearheading Israel’s creation of a national child savings account program. Her work also promotes evidence-based solutions for managed healthcare.

Her research crosses disciplines, informing policy makers, scholars, industry leaders, and practitioners. Her publications include popular press and scholarly journals. Her work has been featured in numerous media outlets such as CNN, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. Dr. Grinstein-Weiss’ research has been supported by many government agencies and philanthropic foundations. She also works closely in collaborations with industry partners, including Fortune-500 partners Centene Corporation and Intuit Inc.

  • Membership is required to attend the ACCI Conference. 
  • Registration fees - Early Bird through April 18, 2019
    • $600 Early Bird Professional Member; $650 after April 18, 2019 (including hotel discount)
    • $700 Early Bird Professional Member if you stay at another hotel; $750 after April 18, 2019
    • $299 Early Bird Student or Retiree; $350 after April 18, 2019 (including hotel discount)
    • $399 Early Bird Student or Retiree if you stay at another hotel; $450 after April 18, 2019.

Hotel Reservations

  • Rate is $179 plus 13.25% tax until April 18, 2019.
  • Site hotel general information: The Westin Arlington Gateway, Arlington, VA, USA
  • Receive $100 discount off registration for staying at the site hotel.
  • A small block of rooms at the Federal Per Diem is available. Call the ACCI office for details.
  • Students needing to share a room, please contact the ACCI office for more information.

Notes: You may extend your stay at ACCI's contracted rate up to three (3) days either side of the contracted dates of May 19-25, 2019, subject to availability. To do so, please book your rooms in the block first (5/19-5/25), then email Jules McAnallen at [email protected] to add any extra days before or after those dates.

Consumers Interests Annual Proceedings
  • Presenters, both oral and poster presenters are required to submit to the proceedings, except in special circumstances. Proceedings are due about five weeks after the conference.

Conference Objectives: At the end of the conference, participants will be able to: (1) name at least three new research projects of which they were unaware; (2) describe at least three new professional contacts; and (3) explain ACCI’s mission and vision, and identify at least one way in which you could become active in support of work in the consumer's interest.
