Michal Grinstein-Weiss, PhD, MA, MSW, is the Shanti K. Khinduka Distinguished Professor and Associate Dean for Policy Initiatives at the Brown School. She serves as director of the university-wide Social Policy Institute at Washington University and as a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution. Dr. Grinstein-Weiss is an influential voice in the design of innovative social policies. She leads large-scale initiatives promoting financial inclusion and health equity through unique cross-sector partnerships. Dr. Grinstein-Weiss is pioneering the field of tax-time savings and spearheading Israel’s creation of a national child savings account program. Read More....

Arthur Kennickell, PhD is an independent consultant on economic measurement. For the 32 years prior to 2017, he was at the Federal Reserve Board, where he is best known for his development and leadership of the Survey of Consumer Finances and his contributions toward the establishment and nurturing of the Global Legal Entity Identifier System. He is a fellow of the American Statistical Association, a member of the board of the National Bureau of Economic Research and a recipient of the Julius Shiskin Award for innovation in economic statistics. Read More....

JCA/FLEC Research Symposium: Monday, May 20, 9am-1pm $50Download the Agenda

The Research Symposium will present research from the forthcoming Special Issue of the Journal of Consumer Affairs (JCA) on "Effective Financial Capability Interventions for Economically Vulnerable Individuals and Families," sponsored jointly by the JCA and the Financial Literacy and Education Commission (FLEC). The Research Symposium will take place from 9 am to 1 pm on May 20, 2019, the day before the annual conference of the American Council on Consumer Interests. The research presented will cover a variety of approaches to improving the financial capability of consumers of all ages. The FLEC was established by the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003 and is comprised of representatives of 23 federal government entities. The commission is charged with "improving the financial literacy and education of persons in the United States."

This symposium will be available free of charge to FLEC members based on support from FLEC agencies. FLEC members not attending the full ACCI Conference should contact the ACCI Office for a link to register for the JCA/FLEC Research Symposium ONLY.
